I’m going to share with you the power of joining a mastermind. Now I really would like you to stick around to the end of this episode. It won’t be a very long one, but I do want to cover some things that have been very influential in my life and in the lives of many, many people that I know. And I can share with you endless stories of the benefits and power of leveling up your life, your business, and your investing with mastermind groups. Now let me explain what they are. So let me lay out my agenda here for this short episode. I’m gonna talk to you a little bit about what is a mastermind for those that are not too familiar with it.
And if even if you are just listen through to basically two minutes of what I’m going to explain as a mastermind, I’m gonna talk a little bit about why you should join a mastermind and the benefits that you will gain. Also, I’m gonna share with you some of my own personal experiences and some of the amazing benefits that I have gained. I mean, material benefits. And then I’m gonna kind of close it up by telling you about the Power Room Mastermind. And I’m gonna share with you some of our past speakers that have come both to speak, provide content, education, and even be interviewed by my partners. And so that is pretty exciting. And wait until you, I share some of the names with you, you’ll find it pretty amazing. And then I’m gonna kind of close it with a special offer if you will, and an invitation for you at the end of this episode.

So let’s begin leaders in the past, like Walt Disney, Franklin D Roosevelt, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Edison, they all shared one secret that propelled them to success. Each person was a member of a mastermind group. Yet mastermind groups met long before 1937, the year in Napoleon Hill, the author of the book famous book Think and Grow Rich, coined that term. In fact, he wrote down this formula for success using information shared by these business moguls like Andrew Carnegie, who became one of the world’s richest men during the early 1900’s. So what is a mastermind group? Well in Think and Grow Rich. Napoleon Hill describes a mastermind group as the quote coordination of knowledge and effort in a spirit of harmony between two or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose close quote.
He says that when a group of minds and I call them like-minded individuals, when a group of minds come together, they essentially create an unseen, powerful force. What he refers to as the mastermind masterminds are typically led by a person who, or a couple of people who start the group as a way of helping people to achieve specific common purposes. For instance, the leader or leader is directing a mastermind might want to help people in scaling a business or learning about investing or taxes or personal development or growth or leadership or improving your profession or your career, or starting a new business, whatever it may be, but they facilitate the group. And this can be over the course of an afternoon, a day, two days in some masterminds that I belong to, they typically go to or two and a half days. So, you know, the facilitator or the group or the hosts of the mastermind, set the stage, introduce the speakers and lay out the content and really just run the event.
And it’s a lot of fun. It’s engaging. It’s very insightful. And you walk away with a lot of good knowledge. Now it’s important to note that mastermind groups are not one on-one executive coaching. They’re not group coaching sessions. It’s much bigger than that. And much more deep and engaging. And this is because there’s no singular authority figure in the group while there is a leader, a host that typically runs the event that person’s role is really just to facilitate community building among the group. And so for this reason, business masterminds and investment masterminds operate based on the premise of group participation. Now that doesn’t mean that you have to be an extrovert or, you know, you’re involved in being at the front of the room or on stage or anything like that, nothing like that. You know, whether it’s brainstorming or giving feedback or holding another accountable within your group or your table, you know, that can happen.
But the group members stimulate provoke and elevate thinking to a higher level for all the members and those that you socialize with and network with and become friends with. So while the concept of a mastermind group sounds great, you might be wondering about the practical benefits of being a member. Here are the three reasons why joining will be one of the best investments you’ll ever make as an entrepreneur professional investor, or simply for your own personal development. So let’s talk about these three. The first is it decreases your chances of business or investment failure. Now from a business perspective, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics around 20% of businesses failed during their first year, I’m sure you’ve heard the stat before, but this increases to 50% after operating for five years. Nevertheless, those with the entrepreneurial spirit, you know, those people who really want to build something don’t need statistics to know that the first few years of owning a company are incredibly difficult.
The whole concept of a mastermind group for entrepreneurs and investors is to tap into the strength of the group, the group network. And I’m gonna talk about that here in a couple of minutes. Think about it this way. Imagine brainstorming any issues, plaguing your business or your investments when you’re a part of a mastermind, your problem solving capabilities instantly get 10 X. This happens because there are members supporting you and your success. And by offering constructive feedback, suggestions, solutions, and their own experience with similar issues, solutions to your problems or challenges, they all become clearer. Also because group members are your peers and not simply employees. They can be more honest with you about what’s causing your problems. For example, maybe there’s a limiting belief or mindset block that’s preventing you from taking you to the next level and by identifying and working through these issues, mastermind groups for entrepreneurs and investors create the space for massive breakthroughs that lead to more personal professional and financial success.
Okay. So number two, masterminds help increase goal achievement. There was a study conducted by the American society of training and development, and they found that people have a 65% chance of achieving their goals when they commit to another person. Now that doesn’t mean that you are finding an accountability partner, although you are welcome to do that, but we know that when you’re in a group of like-minded people and you are sharing some of your goals or objectives, those conversations and the bonds that build and the feedback that you get help to ensure that. So this number increases to 95% when there’s regular communication with an accountability partner to discuss progress, being made, this is entirely optional. A lot of people recognize this and they kind of latch onto that because it’s not so much that you have an accountability partner, but you have someone to bounce your goals and ideas off of as well as the roadblocks or hurdles that you’re running into.
And then you can get over them a lot easier. It’s a collective mind. So for this reason, mastermind groups are a great way to ensure you reach the goals that you set. And more importantly, when you’re a high achiever, like I am. The goals that you set are likely hard ones. So as you work towards the things you want most in life, you have a group of people cheering you on and providing help along the way. And this type of support makes you stronger, more dedicated and more resilient. And number three is it adds instant value to your network. There’s some truth to the old adage. You are the company you keep. And in his book, The Compound Effect, Darren Hardy says that research from Harvard’s social psychologist, Dr. David McClellan shows that the people you habitually associate with determine as much as 95% of your success or failure in life.
Now think about that. This point is huge. The people you hang around with determine to a degree, a 95% degree, your success or failure in life. And I’ve seen this in so many people that I know friends info. So when you make the decision to spend time and network with people who are passionate, dedicated, and determined to succeed, this energy becomes infectious. It’s the strong, positive force Napoleon Hill speaks about in the book Think and Grow Rich. This is what makes the group so powerful and able to fulfill its collective purpose. That is what a mastermind is all about. In addition to this, masterminds can be a great way to meet other ambitious people. Having these relationships can result in potential collaborations, introductions to important business connections and partnerships or investment opportunities. And all of those, all four of those have come true for me personally, over the years, as part of the masterminds that I belong to and have belonged to over time.
So let me just quickly touch on the benefits more or less in bullet point form here of the networking that happens in mastermind groups, cuz this to me is a huge part of why I joined masterminds. I would say if I had to break it into two things, rather than three or four 50% of the reason I joined mastermind groups is for the content, the education, the knowledge, the other 50% would be the networking because this is where I’ve come across all kinds of investment opportunities and deals and ideas that have grown my business and my own personal development. Me personally. So if I had to add a third in there and slice the pie three ways, I’d say it would be the content, the networking and the deal flow because you will come across all kinds of deals, business and investing. And when I say investing, I’m talking about everything from real estate to you name it. So real quick, the benefits of networking as it, within the context of masterminds.
Think about these things. I’m sure many of you have heard this, if you haven’t. Well, think about this. If you’re hearing this for the first time, you are the average of the five people that you hang around the most. So if you are not achieving the goals you want and you’re not at the level that you want to be at, think about the five people you hang around the most. Maybe you need more friends. Maybe you need new friends. Maybe you need to hang around more successful people than you. And this is why masterminds are so powerful is because you are surrounded by successful like-minded people and you’re all working together to elevate yourselves. Second point I’m gonna make is your net worth is determined by your net worth. And again, you know, something to ponder your net worth is determined by your net. So who are you hanging around?
Who are you networking with? Here’s the key. When I first heard this, this is what kind of caused me to pause. Networking has a bigger impact on your life than education marketing and anything else you do for your business, your career, or your investing. Again, networking has a bigger impact on your life than education marketing and anything else you do for your business career or your investing. Your personal network is the difference between mediocre and big. So, you know, networking and masterminds are a great way to build long term relationships. It gives you access to leads and deals. You can gain new ideas for building your business and your own personal wealth through investing it’s great access to high level education. And the bottom line is networking is a shortcut to success. Think about that. Networking is a shortcut to success. And I have many examples of that in my own personal life.
Let me share a couple of them with you. A few of them, some of the major turning points in my investing and professional career, especially as an entrepreneur have come from networking events and masterminds, for example, Norada Real Estate Investments. That was started a little over 18 years ago because of some of the networking events I was attending and the people I was spending time with at these events. And one thing led to another and because of the environment and the ideas that came out of that, it helped me create this idea for Norada Real Estate Investments. And here we are today with a successful business, helping literally thousands of other people, also at another networking event, another mastermind group, actually I met with and got to know some people in that group, some other accredited investors and together, we started building online eCommerce businesses and we have acquired and revived some major name brand companies that we have essentially reboot and are running successfully today online.
And I’m not gonna mention them on this episode. I’m happy to share them privately with you, but let’s just say you would recognize many of these names as one time, distressed name brand retailers that we are now operating successfully as online eCommerce, retail businesses, and last but not least because of an association that became a friendship at another mastermind group. I am now co-producing six new Broadway musicals that are launching this year. Three of them will be live on Broadway by the end of the year. And tickets are already on sale for some of those. And then the other three will launch next year. But think about that. I never thought I would be a Broadway co-producer and I am above title on two of these productions. So that’s a pretty big deal, but this all came out of a mastermind event, a mastermind group that I had belonged to for a number of years and that never would’ve been possible if I wasn’t attending and growing with other like-minded people.
The bottom line here is a mastermind is one of the best places to network because you’re with other like-minded people. And so things naturally happen. You’re gonna learn and grow together. You’re gonna network and help each other and learn from each other. It just happens naturally. So the biggest takeaway of joining a mastermind group essentially is this business and investing can be essentially a lonely journey, but it doesn’t have to be when you join the right mastermind group. Well, you may have a support system of friends and family members. I do, although I wouldn’t say they’re all that supportive. At the end of the day, they likely can’t relate to the challenges of turning your vision into a successful business or investment leaders like you and I need to meet with like-minded individuals so they can experience being influenced and supported by other business owners and investors dedicated to leveling up.
So these meetings provide a time and place where you can share your dreams and goals, reconcile your fears, make changes, life-changing decisions, and celebrate wins. And as this happens, true human connections occur, which is where the magic happens. And these feelings connect you to your purpose. And the reason you chose the difficult but exciting journey of being an entrepreneur or investor. And I have a hard time quantifying the number, but literally I could say that it has changed my business, valuations and net worth by tens of millions of dollars. And that’s how I would quantify the benefits. At least the financial benefits from the masterminds I’ve been involved with over the years and continue to be involved with today.
